Celebrate Earth Day With Eco-Friendly Footwear
Shoes, Socks, and Insoles Awarded American Podiatric Medical Association’s Seal of Acceptance
This Earth Day, many are encouraged to “go green” and shop for items that are considered healthy for the environment. When it comes to the large market of earth-friendly footwear products, many of today’s most stylish items are also healthy for feet—making a great gift choice for those who want to look and feel good while showing they care about the eco-system.
The APMA’s Seal of Acceptance Program recognizes products that have been found to be beneficial to foot health and of significant value when used in a consistently applied program of daily foot care and regular professional treatment. The following products, created using green materials and practices, have been granted the Seal of Acceptance:
Shoes:

Bobux Originals Footwear. Not all leather footwear is created equal—especially when it comes to footwear suitable for infants. Bobux’s Eco-Leather footwear materials meet rigorous environmental safety standards and are completely bio-degradable. In addition to flexible, natural rubber soles, these high quality shoes also feature padded insoles, leather linings and full leather uppers.
Dansko Sanibel Collection. The Dansko Sanibel Collection contains several models of canvas footwear that are vegan-approved. The entire collection makes use of recycled materials in the outsole, making them an eco-friendly choice.
Socks:

Injinji® Performance Series™ Coolmax® EcoMade™ Toesocks. A combination of earth-friendly and performance enhancing, Injinji’s EcoMade Toesocks are created from recycled resources. Created using a highly evolved, raw polyester fiber created from repurposing recycled plastic bottles and post-industrial waste, EcoMade Toesocks’ unique design eliminates skin on skin contact between your toes to prevent blisters from developing.

Dr. Comfort Socks. Dr. Comfort’s unique line of socks is constructed using Nano Bamboo Charcoal Fibers. These fibers not only help to regulate body temperature and deodorize, but also help to protect the environment as no chemicals are required in creating this product.
Insoles:

Spenco’s Earthbound Replacement Insoles. Over half of the materials put into this Spenco insole are recycled and renewable materials—including recycled cork, nylon and foam. The Earthbound insole also features a deep heel cup for extra stability and an advanced cushioning system that absorbs shock.
