New Year, New Goals

The APMA Educational Foundation has set its 2012 Annual Giving Campaign goal to raise $200,000 for student scholarships in honor of APMA’s 100th Anniversary. Special name recognition will be offered to all donors during the 2012 anniversary year.

For more than half a century, APMA has provided financial aid and assistance to podiatric medical students. Each year, the foundation awards scholarships to eligible third- and fourth-year students from the nine podiatric medical colleges. Foundation scholarships continue to provide valuable financial relief from the growing cost of professional education. Thanks to our members, state affiliates, and corporate supporters, the foundation reached its goal last year, and we are confident we can do it again this year with your support.

Last year, the foundation awarded 160 scholarships to third- and fourth-year podiatric medical students. But that’s not enough. There are hundreds of additional qualified students who could benefit from our support. We want to provide every eligible student a scholarship award, but we need your help. In order to reach our goal, about 2,000 members have to donate $100 or more.

The foundation officially will kick off its 2012 campaign at the APMA House of Delegates meeting in March; however, you can make your donation now and your name will be recognized in a presentation during the campaign kick-off.

We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to the foundation in the past and those who have already contributed to the 2012 campaign.

If you would like to see your name included in the campaign kick-off as a 2012 donor and have not already made your donation, fill out the donor form and fax or mail your pledge today in support of our podiatric medical students. Your contribution is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.

“I would like to thank you very much for the CrocsRx student scholarship that I received.  Thanks to you, this generous contribution will help me further my podiatric career. If it was not for your donation, the APMA Educational Foundation would not be able to make its annual scholarships. I appreciate your continuing support for future podiatric medical students.” Kinjal Patel, Class of 2012, Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine

“I was very pleased to learn that I was selected as a recipient of the APMA Educational Foundation scholarship from the Seward P. Nyman, DPM, Memorial Fund. This scholarship will help me greatly. I’m sure you know all too well the costs associated with attending podiatric medical school. Thank you for your continued support of the profession and of the students who will one day remember the kindness of our forebears.” James Wilk, Class of 2013, California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University
