In an important development at today’s House of Delegates meeting, APMA Executive Director and CEO Glenn B. Gastwirth, DPM, announced that he will extend his commitment to APMA by a year. In December 2013, Dr. Gastwirth announced plans to retire in May 2015.

“After much discussion with colleagues about the timing of the transition, and after consulting with my wife Joy, I decided to offer to remain at APMA until 2016 in order to guide the association’s critical efforts around health-care reform, ICD-10, and other timely issues,” said Dr. Gastwirth. The Board of Trustees unanimously approved an extension of his contract for a year.

Dr. Gastwirth has been at APMA for more than 27 years and has been executive director for 16 years. “Dr. Gastwirth’s leadership and knowledge are invaluable assets to this organization,” said APMA President Frank Spinosa, DPM. “The board thanks him for his generosity in extending his long-term commitment to our association and our profession.”

The House of Delegates today adopted a resolution designed to structure the search and approval process for a new executive director.
