The meeting of APMA's 99th House of Delegates, your association's governance body, convened in Washington, DC, on Saturday, March 16. The house opened with addresses from staff and member leaders. Executive Director and CEO James R. Christina, DPM, presented the house with the state of the association, noting the two major legislative victories, passing of our VA Provider Equity Act legislation as part of the VA MISSION Act, reclassifying podiatrists as podiatric surgeons within the VA Health Administration, and the defeat of CMS' proposed rule on E/M codes, which would have reimbursed podiatrists at a lower rate than codes for the same care provided by other physicians. We encourage members to visit www.apma.org/hod for general meeting information, governance documents, and more about the house. Look for in-depth coverage of the meeting in upcoming issues of Weekly Focus and APMA News.
