On March 11, APMA submitted to Noridian a letter with its concerns and recommendations on Noridian’s Proposed Local Coverage Determination (LCD): Wound Care (DL38902) and Draft Local Coverage Article: Billing and Coding: Wound Care (DA58565). APMA had previously raised all these issues at an open meeting on February 23. APMA recommended the following:

  • Include physical examination (i.e., palpation of pedal pulses) in the method list by which assessment of vascular competence may be performed
  • Identify clearly the exact required elements in the final LCD what constitutes a "comprehensive Plan of Care”
  • Correct the language for “Consultation Services” to reference a physician or practitioner, instead of a podiatrist.
