The APMA Board of Trustees recently restructured its committees. Read more about the new structure here. The new committees and their charges are listed below.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Note: Encompasses functions of the former Center for Professional Advocacy Advisory Group and Legislative Committee, as well as some functions of the former Health Policy and Practice Committee.
Charge
The Government Affairs Committee serves as the association’s policy and advocacy advisory body, ensuring that federal and state legislative and regulatory initiatives reflect the needs of podiatric physicians and the patients they serve. The committee identifies, analyzes, and recommends actions on issues affecting podiatric medical practice.
CODING AND PAYMENT POLICY COMMITTEE
Note: Encompasses functions of former Coding Committee, as well as practice/payment policy and CMS regulatory functions of former Health Policy and Practice Committee.
Charge
The Coding and Payment Policy Committee (CPPC) represents and advocates for podiatric physicians and their patients on all matters related to coding, billing, coverage, payment policy, and practice management. The CPPC develops, reviews, and recommends coding proposals and relative value unit (RVU) assignments that influence coverage and payment policy by CMS and other payers. The committee also advises APMA leadership on coding and reimbursement trends, supports member education, and collaborates with other medical specialties to promote equitable and transparent payment practices.
CLINICAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Note: Encompasses functions of former Research and Podiatric Population Health Committees.
Charge
Addresses questions and facilitates discussion about issues affecting the general practice of podiatric medicine and surgery. Produces and supports publishable research, including research demonstrating the value of podiatric medicine and surgery. Monitors research activities in foot and ankle health-care delivery. Represents podiatric profession in both administrative and advisory capacities among health-care, including public health, programs at the national level.
EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Charge
Ensures the continuity of APMA’s education by conducting an annual needs assessment and review of all education activities. The committee is responsible for oversight in planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating education activities of the association including but not limited to the annual scientific meeting, live in-person seminars, internet live webinars, and on-demand activities.
MEMBER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Note: Encompasses functions of former Membership and Communications Committees and Young Physician Leadership Panel; Student Engagement and Awards are subcommittees of this committee.
Charge
Provides guidance on issues related to the APMA community of interest, including membership recruitment and retention, member communications, media relations, public education, and external communications. Ensures accuracy and relevance of health information APMA distributes to the public. Shares insight on how members gather and consume information, as well as educational needs of patients, health-care providers, legislators, and other external audiences.

Charge
Determines corporate funding priorities for APMA programs. Pursues efforts to garner and solicit non-dues income. Assists in prioritizing funding requests considered by the APMA Educational Foundation.
