APMA Advocates for L3010 Improvements at Public HCPCS Meeting

December 14, 2020

Advocacy heading printed on paper.

On December 21, APMA will participate in CMS’s Virtual Public Meetings for new public request for revisions to the Healthcare Common Procedure Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). While APMA submitted three separate but related HCPCS narrative language change applications for L3000, L3010, L3020, we only received positive confirmation of the application for L3010.

In APMA’s opinion, HCPCS L3000 / L3010 / L3020 Code Descriptors should be updated to:

  • reflect advances in technology and materials since origin of these codes in 1970s; and
  • provide uniformity and consistency for utilizers of L30XX codes, including providers, suppliers, and third-party payers.

APMA will update members after meeting results are announced.
