After almost a year of programming and leadership development, the current cohort of the APMA Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) will present their recommendations surrounding young physician engagement to the APMA Board of Trustees and the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) Board of Directors at The National. APMA gratefully acknowledges the generous support ABFAS has provided for the ELP.

Led by the APMA Young Physician Leadership Panel (YPLP), the ELP is a leadership-intensive program designed to support an exclusive group of young physicians with a vested interest in future leadership opportunities. Since October 2022, these groups have been working to identify ways to improve and enhance the leadership journey of today’s young physicians. This presentation will be an opportunity for ELP participants to provide guidance on how APMA and current leaders within the profession can support podiatrists in the early stages of their careers.

“The Emerging Leaders Program is in its inaugural year and truly is in continuous growth and remodeling,” said APMA Young Physician Leadership Panel Chair and Young Physician Member of the Board of Trustees Rebecca Sundling, DPM, MPH. “Our emphasis so far has been working on identifying barriers to young physician involvement and participation within APMA and the state components. I am hoping to use our extended time together this fall and winter to execute some preliminary solutions to these barriers,” Dr. Sundling said.
