New ICD-10-CM Code Set Takes Effect October 1

September 25, 2023

ICD-10 and stethoscope

A new ICD-10-CM code set becomes effective October 1. Providers must use the new code set for services provided on or after October 1. There are changes in the new code set pertinent to neoplasms, sickle-cell disease, Parkinson’s disease, and compliance issues.

One change that may be pertinent to podiatrists is that D48.1 will no longer be a complete code and will instead require additional characters to complete the code.

APMA will host a webinar covering podiatry-relevant coding changes for the new year on December 14. Register now! Also, APMA Coding Resource Center (CRC) subscribers can view a full list of podiatry-relevant changes now on the CRC home page.
