Are you a visionary leader with a passion for advancing medicine in America? APMA is seeking a dynamic and innovative CEO to lead our esteemed organization into the future.

As the CEO of APMA, you will:

  • Drive strategic initiatives to elevate the profession of podiatric medicine and improve foot and ankle health across the nation.
  • Collaborate with the APMA Board of Trustees in working with key stakeholders, including podiatric physicians, health-care organizations, policymakers, and the public, to advocate for the highest standards of foot and ankle care.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and collaboration within the organization and the broader podiatric community.
  • Lead efforts to promote education, research, and professional development opportunities for podiatric physicians.
  • Navigate evolving health-care landscapes and champion policies that support the growth and recognition of podiatric medicine.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A deep understanding of health-care policy, regulatory frameworks, and emerging trends affecting podiatric medicine.
  • Proven leadership experience in health care or a related field, with a track record of strategic vision and execution.
  • Strong advocacy skills and the ability to effectively communicate the value of podiatric medicine to diverse audiences.
  • A commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization and the profession while fostering member engagement and retention.
  • Significant experience overseeing staff and serving as a liaison between volunteer leaders and staff.
  • A deep understanding of the value of member organizations and a proven track record of translating that value into membership growth.

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced Degree in Health-care Management, Business Administration, or Medicine and/or Advanced Certification: A master's degree, such as an MBA or MHA, or medical degree, such as a DPM, MD, or DO, and/or advanced certification, such as a CAE, with knowledge of health-care systems, management principles, finance, and strategic planning.
  2. Extensive Experience in Health-care Leadership: Prior experience in executive roles within the health-care sector.
  3. Strategic Vision and Planning Skills: A successful CEO should have the ability to develop and execute long-term strategies that align with the association's goals and objectives, while also adapting to changes in the health-care industry.
  4. Financial Acumen: Understanding health-care economics, budgeting, financial forecasting, and revenue generation strategies is essential for managing the association's finances effectively.
  5. Strong Communication and Relationship-Building Skills: The CEO should be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders, including both members and non-members of the association, government officials, health-care providers, and the public. Building and maintaining relationships with key partners is crucial for advancing the association's mission.
  6. Advocacy and Public Policy Experience: Knowledge of health-care policy, advocacy, and regulatory affairs is important for representing the interests of the association and its members in the broader health-care landscape.
  7. Commitment to Ethical Standards and Compliance: A CEO must uphold high ethical standards and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing the health-care industry.
  8. Innovative Thinking and Adaptability: The health-care industry is constantly evolving, so the CEO should demonstrate the ability to innovate, adapt to change, and lead the association through periods of transformation.
  9. Experience in Collaborative Leadership: Given the interdisciplinary nature of health care, the CEO should be skilled at fostering collaboration and teamwork among diverse stakeholders.
  10. Passion for Health Care and the Association's Mission: Ultimately, the CEO should have a genuine passion for improving health-care outcomes and advancing the mission of the association.
