Dr. DeSantis Explains AMA Resolution from Joint Task Force of Orthopaedic and Podiatric Surgeons

May 11, 2021

APMA recently announced the submission of a resolution to the AMA House of Delegates by the Joint Task Force of Orthopaedic and Podiatric Surgeons designed to address the goal of equivalency in education and certification. APMA strongly believes that DPMs are physicians and surgeons whose education and training are comparable to the education and training of MDs and DOs. Your association therefore supports a uniform model for licensing to demonstrate to health-care consumers that DPMs have met the same rigorous standards as other physicians.

Watch APMA President Jeffrey R. DeSantis, DPM, FACFAS, explain this exciting development, then click below for more information.

Clarification: Resolution 4-19 unanimously passed the APMA House of Delegates and was endorsed by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. The resolution was cosponsored by 25 state component societies, the APMA Board of Trustees, and the American Podiatric Medical Students' Association.
