APMA has created new resources related to billing claims that include an Evaluation and Management (E/M) service with the –25 modifier, with a focus on the management component. It is critical for members to remain vigilant in compliance with their –25 modifier use: The recently released Office of Inspector General report audited dermatology providers' use of the –25 modifier. DPMs are the third highest user of the –25 modifier, and public, private, and commercial payers continue to scrutinize its use.
These new resources, created with the assistance of APMA Coding Committee member Mark Block, DPM, can be found on both the 25 Modifier Toolkit page and the E/M Resources page. Dr. Block also published an article on this topic in the September/October issue of APMA News.
