APMA Joins AMA to Drive Change in Washington

  • Mar 1, 2026

APMA staff participated in the AMA National Advocacy Conference, standing alongside the American Medical Association and dozens of national medical and specialty societies to advocate for policies that strengthen the physician community and protect patient access to care.

Throughout the conference, APMA heard from physician leaders and policy experts to advance shared legislative priorities, including meaningful Medicare Physician Payment Reform, reducing administrative burdens caused by prior authorization, and protecting and strengthening access to Medicaid. These issues directly impact podiatric physicians and surgeons, as well as the millions of patients who rely on timely, high-quality foot and ankle care.

Following policy briefings from members of Congress, CMS officials, and national health-care leaders, APMA staff took these priorities directly to Capitol Hill. In meetings with lawmakers and congressional staff, APMA reinforced the urgent need for sustainable physician payment, streamlined prior authorization processes, and policies that ensure patients—particularly vulnerable populations—maintain access to essential services.

APMA remains committed to working with the AMA and other medical societies to deliver a unified voice in Washington and to advance federal policies that support podiatric medicine and the patients we serve.
