About APMA

A Busy September from the APMAPAC and Podiatry Grassroots Advocacy

APMA leaders have been hard at work advocating for the profession throughout September.

  • APMA President-elect, Scott Hughes, DPM, attended a local Michigan event for Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI).
  • APMA Trustee, William Long, DPM, hosted Congressman William Timmons (R-SC) at his practice in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
  • APMAPAC Chair, Randy Kaplan, DPM, and APMA Podiatry Advocacy Liaison, Jodie Sengstock, DPM, attended a local Michigan event for Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI).
  • APMAPAC Vice-Chair, Janet Simon, DPM, attended a local New Mexico reception for Senator Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM).
  • APMA Trustee, Holly Spohn-Gross, DPM, and California Podiatric Medical Association President Heather McGuire, DPM, attended a local event for Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin (D-CA), candidate for California's 26th Congressional District.
  • APMA Government Affairs Committee Chair Frank Rottier met with the staff from Rep. Mike Quigly (D-IL).
  • Christina Han, DPM, attended a local California event for Dr. Richard Pan, MD (D-CA), candidate for California's 6th Congressional District.
  • Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association board member Amy Masowick, DPM, and Renee Ash, DPM, attended a local Ohio event with Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH).
  • New York State Podiatric Medical Association past president Sandro Frasca, DPM, attended a local New York event for Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY).
  • Alexander Gilroy, DPM, met with the staff of Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL).
  • APMA Government Affairs Committee member Kirk Geter, DPM, attended a breakfast for Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD).

This recent strong political engagement could not have been possible without the APMAPAC, which allows podiatric physicians to be at the table to educate federal lawmakers on the top issues impacting the profession. Grassroots advocacy has been equally important, allowing members to build local relationships with federal lawmakers and advance our priorities forward!

Contribute to the APMAPAC today and help advance the profession!
