APMA is taking the fight against CMS’s proposed 50 percent payment cut for certain same-day services reported with Modifier 25 directly to federal decisionmakers.
Today, APMA President Patrick DeHeer, DPM; APMA CEO Meghan McClellan; and members of the APMA advocacy team met directly with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) officials to urge the agency to withdraw the proposal. The CMS meeting followed an intensive week of advocacy in Washington, DC. APMA met with White House officials and key congressional staff and participated with other physician specialty organizations in coalition meetings with the White House Domestic Policy Council and Office of Management and Budget.
Across these meetings, APMA delivered a clear message: CMS’s proposal is not supported by sufficient data, threatens patients’ access to timely foot and ankle care, and could significantly undermine the sustainability of small and solo podiatric practices.

APMA has also joined the American Medical Association and more than 150 health-care organizations in calling on CMS to withdraw the proposal.
