APMA sent a letter of support to congressional champions for key legislation that would strengthen transparency, stakeholder engagement, and consistency within the Medicare local coverage determination (LCD) process. Representatives Neal Dunn (R-FL), Claudia Tenney (R-NY), and Nanette Barragán (D-CA) recently introduced HR 8500, the Timely Access to Coverage Decisions Act, which would strengthen qualified health experts’ engagement in the LCD process, require timely completion of requests for new and existing determinations, and establish a process for agency review of reconsideration decisions.
