For many years, APMA has supported efforts to achieve third party payer coverage of topical oxygen for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Last week, the DME MACs released a proposed LCD for treating non-healing diabetic foot ulcers with topical oxygen. The proposed LCD outlines coverage criteria required to initiate therapy and another set of criteria required to continue therapy beyond one month. This proposed LCD is now in a comment period, and APMA will be submitting comments on behalf of its members. If any individual wishes to submit comments, they may do so by sending an email to TOTRecon@noridian.com. APMA also plans to have representation at a DME MAC virtual open meeting on?August 26 where this proposal will be discussed.
