Scholarship Fund

All nine accredited colleges of podiatric medicine offer scholarship, grant, and loan programs to their students. For more information regarding these individual college programs, contact each college directly. APMA also offers a scholarship program for students through the APMA Educational Foundation.

APMA Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund

The APMA Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund is the only national funding resource devoted to students at the colleges of podiatric medicine. See 2022's scholarship recipients

Quick Facts  

  • Scholarship applicants must be members of APMA. All students are offered complimentary student membership with APMA. If you are not yet a member, contact the APMA Membership department, or complete the student membership form.
  • The scholarship fund awards scholarships to podiatric medical students from the nine colleges of podiatric medicine.
  • Annually, the scholarship fund assists approximately 200 students, and this number continues to grow.
  • The minimum level of scholarship support is $1,000.
  • The scholarship fund distributes about $300,000 each year.
  • The scholarship fund has distributed more than $4 million in scholarship dollars to more than 3,500 students.

Eligibility  

All third- and fourth-year students from the nine accredited colleges of podiatric medicine are eligible: Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University; Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine; Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery; Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science; Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine; New York College of Podiatric Medicine; Samuel Merritt University College of Podiatric Medicine; Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine; and Western University of Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine. There are several discretionary awards made available each year to second-year students. 

Candidates for Educational Foundation scholarships are selected by the College Scholarship and Student Loan Committee based on the following criteria:  

  • Financial need
  • Grade point average
  • Podiatric community/school service
  • Leadership involvement
  • APMA membership

Application and Deadlines  

The scholarship cycle is now open for the 2023–2024 academic year. Apply today! Completed applications are due to your school financial aid counselor by June 30. Funds will be disbursed in early fall. Scholarship checks will be sent directly to your school's financial aid office.
