Rising Star Award

March 20, 2016

APMA President Phillip E. Ward, DPM, honored Dyane Tower, DPM, MPH, MS, with the Rising Star Award on Saturday. The award is presented to members who have been in practice fewer than five years in recognition of outstanding national accomplishments in scientific, professional, or civic endeavors.

After graduating from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Dr. Tower completed her residency at Banner Health in Greeley, CO, in 2012. Dr. Tower has been closely involved with APMA since the start of her career and was the first-ever APMA/The Dartmouth Institute Public Health Fellow in 2012–13. She is now the only podiatrist employed by the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Among her honors and awards for excellence in podiatry, she was the recipient of the Dartmouth Institute Leadership Award in 2013. She is a leader in public health and serves as the Secretary of the American Public Health Association’s Podiatric Health Section.

A few words from those who nominated Dr. Tower:

“Following in her footsteps has been both inspiring and daunting.”—Kyle Bruce, DPM, 2013–14; APMA/TDI Public Health Fellow

“What most impressed me was her willingness to serve.”—William M. McCann, DPM; Secretary–Treasurer, NHPMA

“It is Dr. Tower who fully exemplifies the qualities that will ensure the bright future of our profession.”—Nichol Salvo, DPM; former director of the APMA Young Physicians’ Program

Congratulations to Dr. Tower, who remains tireless in her contributions to the profession through consistent research, presentations, and mentoring, as well as her commitment to holding podiatric medicine to the highest standard.
