APMA Sponsors Capitol Hill Briefing
APMA members David Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, and John Steinberg, DPM, FACFAS, spoke at an APMA-sponsored briefing on Capitol Hill on “Pioneer Innovations in Diabetic Limb Salvage” on Tuesday, March 29.
The event was designed to educate legislators and their staff about the value of podiatrists in limb salvage. It also communicated the importance of breaking down barriers to patient access by supporting the Helping Ensure Life- and Limb-Saving Access to Podiatric Physicians (HELLPP) Act.
Opening marks and introductions were given by APMA Executive Director and CEO James R. Christina, DPM. Additionally, Henry R. Hughes Jr., a patient of Dr. Steinberg's, discussed the impact of diabetes on his day-to-day life, as well as the importance of access to high-quality care by a podiatrist.
Look for more coverage—including video from the event—coming soon, and visit our eAdvocacy site to urge your legislators to cosponsor the HELLPP Act.
