MACRA Final Rule Announced, APMA Reviewing
This morning, CMS announced the final rule implementing the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) provisions in MACRA, which are collectively known as the Quality Payment Program. The rule includes a 60-day comment period and will go into effect on January 1, 2017.
APMA is reviewing the rule and will provide more information to members through APMA publications and online at www.apma.org/MACRA. Additionally, APMA's MACRA task force is meeting in November to discuss the rule and create a plan to educate members. APMA will host a webinar about the Quality Payment Program once the rule has been vetted by staff and the task force.
CMS has created a website to introduce physicians to the Quality Payment Program. The site includes an executive summary of the rule, a list of quality measures, and more.
