Brad Wenstrup, DPM, won in a landslide victory.
In a landslide victory, Brad Wenstrup, DPM, has won Ohio's second district congressional race by a 59-41 percent vote. Dr. Wenstrup is the first ever podiatrist to be elected to the US House of Representatives, and APMA congratulates him on this victory. Dr. Wenstrup, an Iraq war veteran and US Army reservist, defeated incumbent Jean Schmidt in the district’s primary in March. Ohio’s second congressional district encompasses a portion of southern Ohio including the suburbs of Cincinnati. Dr. Wenstrup will officially take office on January 3, 2013, joining the 113th Congress, and APMA looks forward to working closely with him to ensure podiatric medicine remains at the forefront of the health-care debate.
Congressional candidate Lee Rogers, DPM, ran unsuccessfully for California’s 25th congressional district, situated in northern Los Angeles County including the cities of Santa Clarita and Palmdale. Incumbent Howard “Buck” McKeon held on to his seat for another two-year term. APMA is proud of Dr. Rogers’ efforts in this hard-fought race.
