APMA Advocacy Contributes to MIPS Quality Measure Suppression

July 12, 2021

After hearing from members that certain Part B claims MIPS Quality measure submissions were being rejected by CMS, APMA communicated with CMS about this issue. CMS then realized it had made a processing error regarding these measures and announced that for the 2021 performance period, it is suppressing Part B claims Quality measures 001 (Diabetes: Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Poor Control (>9%)) and 117 (Diabetes: Eye Exam).

CMS indicated that providers who submit one (or both) of these measures will see their total available Quality measure achievement points reduced by 10 points (per measure).
