APMA Responds to CMS’ RFI: Make Your Voice Heard

Last week, APMA responded to the CMS Request for Information (RFI): Make Your Voice Heard. This RFI was seeking public input on accessing health care and related challenges, understanding provider experiences, advancing health equity, and assessing the impact of waivers and flexibilities provided in response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. The RFI responses were limited by character count, so APMA focused its comments on the following:

  • Accessing Health Care and Related Challenges—Therapeutic Shoes for Diabetics program burdens and challenges
  • Advancing Health Equity—Support for a Comprehensive Diabetic Lower Extremity Exam and support for CMS’ previously proposed quality measure Ulcer Risk Assessment and Follow-up
  • Impact of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) Waivers and Flexibilities—Request to remove the geography restrictions related to telehealth and evaluation of MIPS program requirements in light of the COVID-19 extreme and uncontrollable hardship exceptions likely ending.

APMA members can read the comments in full and past comment letters at www.apma.org/CommentLetters. If you have questions or concerns, contact the APMA Health Policy and Practice department at healthpolicy.hpp@apma.org.
