Diabetes can cause many complications in the feet and ankles, which is why it's critically important to include a podiatrist on your diabetes care team. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy, or diabetic nerve pain, is one of those complications. Peripheral neuropathy can cause excruciating pain and limit patients' daily activities or intrude on their sleep. People with diabetes who experience nerve pain or discomfort in their feet should see their podiatrist immediately to explore options for treatment. Diabetes doesn't have to hurt!
