APMA Submits Comments on Medicare Advantage Program

March 7, 2022

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE

Last week, APMA submitted comments on two proposed rules related to the Medicare Advantage program.

In its response to the 2023 Medicare Advantage and Part D Advance Notice, APMA again shared with CMS its members’ concerns with Medicare Advantage Organizations’ burdensome Medical Records requests and offered several recommendations. APMA also submitted comments in response to the Medicare Advantage and Part D Policy Technical Changes Proposed Rule and addressed Medicare Advantage network adequacy requirements and Medical Records requests.

Last fall, APMA led a coalition of medical societies to address with CMS our shared concerns with Medicare Advantage Plans’ onerous chart review requests. APMA is disappointed that CMS did not address our concerns in these two proposed rules, and APMA used the opportunity in comments to again request that CMS take action to limit the administrative burdens on physician offices.
