APMA's Comment Letter to Noridian on TSD

June 1, 2020

Advocacy heading printed on paper.

In support of J. Kevin West, Esq., who wrote a letter on behalf of PICA policyholders, APMA submitted its own letter to Noridian on May 29 to express our shared concerns with its policies related to the Therapeutic Shoe Program for Persons with Diabetes (TSD). In our letter, APMA echoed Mr. West’s frustrations, which we have heard from innumerable members who have participated in the TSD program. We offered recommendations to make simple changes in interpretation of the regulations governing the Therapeutic Shoe Program for Persons with Diabetes (TSD). These changes would clarify provider roles and would significantly reduce burdens for physicians and beneficiaries, in support of CMS’ Patients Over Paperwork initiative, while still ensuring robust safeguards to the Medicare program from fraud, waste and abuse.
