Summary: The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an exceptional Podiatric Surgeon to join the faculty of a dynamic and growing Division of Vascular Surgery. Our Division provides comprehensive service for adults and children with vascular disorders at UW Health and services to the Madison area UW affiliated hospitals. The Department of Surgery consists of more than 140 faculty across eleven specialty divisions, performing more than 25,000 operations annually. The Department also trains more than 70 residents and fellows and is consistently ranked amongst the top surgery programs with extramural research funding. Principal duties: The Podiatric Surgeon will be faculty member within the division of Vascular Surgery with clinical practice based at 1 south park clinic but with privileges across all Madison based UW health clinics and Hospitals. The elective surgical practice will be based at Unity Point Meriter Hospital. The selected candidate will have be responsible for but not limited to: 1) Establish a complex foot ulcer clinic and comprehensive diabetic food care in partnership with UW health Wound Clinic 2) Managed acute conditions of the foot and ankle including acute Diabetic Foot Infections 3) Develop a multi-disciplinary diabetic limb salvage program. 4) Perform elective and reconstructive foot surgery. 5) Develop local collaborative partnership with practicing Podiatrist and participate in the existing diabetic foot call amongst the UPA podiatrists to support UW Health podiatry services. 6) This role may also include leadership opportunities within the health system for podiatric services. The primary site of this position will be at Unity Point Meriter Hospital. UP-Meriter hospital runs 11 operating rooms daily including specialty services in Vascular, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, GYN, plastic surgery and other subspecialties. The successful candidate will demonstrate qualifications and commitment delivering high-quality patient care. In addition, competitive candidates will be motivated for clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
